Exploring the lived experience of endoscopy trainees and their perceptions of nurse endoscopists as trainers

Background UK endoscopy services face considerable workforce pressures from an increasing demand for procedures. To meet this need, health have introduced the role of nurse endoscopist (also known as clinical, non-medical or non-physician endoscopist). These roles grown and developed to include performing many complex diagnostic therapeutic procedures, well provision training. Aims This study examines lived experiences (nurse medical) trainees, especially regarding being trained by endoscopists. Methods The employed interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA). Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews 10 participants, who selected a sample trainees attending basic colonoscopy skills course. Interviews preceded observations gain contextual insights into training experience. data analysed in stages process reading re-reading transcripts, making initial descriptive then annotating with discursive, linguistic conceptual comments.
